A polygon is a (typically non-rectangular) region used to define an object with greater detail than a rectangular bounding box. Polygon annotations are valuable for training segmentation models or improving the performance of object-detection models. By providing precise object outlines, they enable more accurate bounding boxes to be retained during data augmentation.
