Combining the advantages of semantic segmentation and instance segmentation, panoptic segmentation annotation not only annotates all pixels in the image with semantic categories, distinguishes different target instances under the same category, but also marks the image background area, realizing comprehensive segmentation annotation of the complete image scene, used for panoptic scene understanding model training.
